The exceptional chamber music ensemble “Wiener Virtuosen” was formed by a group of leading members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The founder and organizer of the group Ernst Ottensamer, visualized it as a flexible ensemble. The original basic ensemble comprised a string 1uartet and a wind quartet, and the numbers can be varied according to the repertoire currently being performed, whether the ensemble requires more or fewer players.
The ensemble performs works from the Classic and Romantic periods, and also the twentieth century, in smaller string or wind ensembles, progressing to octets, nonets through to the chamber orchestra repertoire and solo concertos, presenting interpretations of the highest quality.
Many international soloists, as well as soloists from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra have performed concertos in renowned concert halls in Austria and abroad with the “Wiener Virtuosen”.
The Ensemble has already gained renown both at home in the many Music Festivals of the Austrian cultural scene and abroad having toured Europe, USA and Japan.
